To celebrate the release of Peggy Noodle, Hula Hoop Queen, I had a big celebration downtown in Apex, North Carolina at the beautiful Halle Cultural Arts Center. Many thanks to the Town of Apex, and Peak City Publishing, for co-sponsoring the HOOPLA! at the Halle. The Pickle Mama’s put on a spectacular demonstration, and added instruction for the crowd as needed … and guest judges Ira David Wood III and Carol Crane kept the competition heated. Children of all ages participated, and we had age groups: 1 – 5, 6 – 11, and 12 – adult. And wouldn’t you know it, the day’s Hula Hoop Queen was part of the youngest group! We signed autographs for an hour straight … What a wonderful day!
